Rooftops Becoming Urban Farms
Alexandre Ferrari-Roy — Founder & CEO, MicroHabitat
In this episode, we sit down with Alexandre Ferrari-Roy, Founder and CEO of MicroHabitat, the urban agriculture company transforming underutilised rooftops and neglected urban spaces into productive, community-connected farms across North America and Europe.
Since launching the company’s first project in Montreal in 2016, Alexandre has grown MicroHabitat to over 200 urban farms across eight cities, partnering with property owners, managers, and developers to offer urban agriculture as a service. The model does not just grow food. It increases property values, supports BOMA and LEED environmental compliance, and creates measurable social impact through initiatives like Urban Solidarity Farms, where more than half of clients donate their harvests directly to local food banks.
