Identity Access Management Leadership

Karim Syed — Cybersecurity Executive, and Identity & Access Management Leader

In this Xraised episode, we sit down with Karim Syed, a strategic cybersecurity executive and Identity and Access Management leader with over 16 years of experience building and defending security programs for large-scale global enterprises. Based in the Raleigh-Durham area of North Carolina, Karim brings a perspective that sits squarely at the intersection of cybersecurity, identity, and business strategy, sharpened further by the Chief Information Security Officer Executive Education Program at Carnegie Mellon University.

Karim opens by reflecting on what drew him to the IAM space early in his career: the recognition that access control sits at the heart of everything an organisation tries to protect. That insight has stayed with him across consulting engagements with global telecoms and financial institutions, and through his current role heading Access Management Platforms at S&P Global, where he leads a team of over 70 individuals and manages a portfolio exceeding $15 million annually.
