Peter Vulchev, CFA, Launches SuccessionKeeper to Solve the UK's £37 Billion 'Lost Assets' Problem
CANTERBURY, Kent, June 11, 2026 — The average Briton does not write a will until age 59, yet financial lives grow complex long before that milestone. SuccessionKeeper was built for people who want to take control early — long before writing a will feels necessary — given that in the UK the average age of writing a will is around 59, yet life changes long before then. Into that gap steps Peter Vulchev, CFA, a former senior finance professional who has launched SuccessionKeeper Ltd, a privacy-first platform designed to ensure families never have to scramble through files and folders to piece together a loved one's financial picture.
Peter Vulchev brings deep experience in financial systems, risk, and long-term planning, shaped by senior roles at BlackRock and within the investment advisory teams of Apollo and Lone Star Funds. SuccessionKeeper was born from his belief that financial organisation should be proactive, not reactive — and that protecting loved ones starts long before urgency forces action. Having lived and worked across the US, continental Europe, and now the UK, Vulchev understands first-hand how fragmented financial lives can become across borders, and he leads product vision and strategy, ensuring SuccessionKeeper remains practical, secure, and respectful of user privacy.
What SuccessionKeeper Actually Does
SuccessionKeeper is a private, encrypted vault where users record where their accounts, pensions, properties, and other assets are held, along with optional notes, instructions, and documents. The platform is not about moving money, offering advice, or replacing financial institutions — instead, it acts as a secure vault, helping individuals clearly document what they have, where it is held, and who should know. The distinction matters commercially: by deliberately avoiding Open Banking integrations or credential storage, SuccessionKeeper sidesteps the regulatory and liability burdens that have hampered competing services, while keeping the user experience straightforward enough to complete in under 20 minutes.
What sets SuccessionKeeper apart from a spreadsheet or a static document is its check-in system: users set the frequency themselves, and if they stop responding, the platform contacts a primary nominee through a careful notification sequence before anything is released — making it a living record, not a forgotten document. Data is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.3 and at rest using AES-256, and the service is UK GDPR compliant. The entire infrastructure runs on Google Cloud within the United Kingdom.
"Most people assume their family will figure it out — and most families do not," said Peter Vulchev, CFA, Co-founder and Director of SuccessionKeeper. "We built this because we needed it ourselves, and because a finance background makes it painfully obvious just how much falls through the cracks. The goal is to give families a clear starting point, not a crisis."
Built by Finance and Technology Veterans
SuccessionKeeper was built by two finance and technology professionals who needed the product themselves: Peter Vulchev, formerly of BlackRock, Apollo and Lone Star Funds, and Deyan Nenov, whose consultancy has served Amazon and Autodesk. Nenov brings deep experience across architecture, construction, and software design, shaped by over two decades of real-world delivery, and is the founder of a software development consultancy serving clients such as Amazon and Autodesk, where security, reliability, and trust are non-negotiable. The pairing of institutional finance rigour with enterprise-grade engineering credentials positions the company well as the UK's digital legacy management market matures.
SuccessionKeeper Ltd is an active company incorporated on 25 November 2025, with its registered office located in Canterbury, Kent. Despite its early stage, the platform is already live, pricing is publicly set at £39 a year on the annual plan, and no card details are required to start a 14-day free trial. Early user feedback highlights the platform's ease of setup and the discovery that financial lives are often more scattered than users realise — a sentiment that underscores the commercial need the product addresses.
The Big Picture
Modern life has made finances more complex, yet access to essential information still relies on memory, paperwork, or assumptions — and SuccessionKeeper provides a structured, secure way to bring clarity and continuity to users' financial lives, at their own pace, without pressure or intrusion. The UK's estimated billions in unclaimed financial assets — pension pots, dormant bank accounts, forgotten ISAs — represent the downstream cost of exactly the problem SuccessionKeeper is attacking upstream. Regulators and the financial services industry have long called for better financial record-keeping; Vulchev is betting that a consumer-grade vault, priced accessibly and built with institutional-level security, is the answer.
Beyond commercial growth, SuccessionKeeper has committed to donating 5% of profits to charities working to improve the lives of children — a structural commitment that aligns the company's long-term success with social impact. With a founding team carrying credentials from some of the world's most demanding financial and technology environments, and a product already in the hands of paying users, SuccessionKeeper is positioned to grow into a standard part of responsible personal financial planning in the UK and beyond.
